If there is one thing I don’t like about most average people in modern society, it’s that they aren’t thinking in terms of the future enough; what they can build and accomplish together. I read old texts and watch old films that sure, to one degree or another might seem campy, but it just shows how vibrant the imagination
is. Pick up a Jules Verne novel and you’ll see what I mean. Think of Disney’s famous World of Tomorrow attractions at Epcot. Futurism has been out of style for a while, but I think it’s beginning to make a comeback given recent economic instabilities and downturns. People are once again beginning to look towards what’s possible, what’s at the very edge of their imagination. To illustrate this point, I’d like to direct your attention to a fascinating site that I’ve recently come across called SpaceCollective.
SpaceCollective describes itself as a place “Where forward thinking terrestrials exchange ideas and information about the state of the species, their planet, and the universe, living the lives of science fiction today.”
The site looks forward to the future and challenges our perceptions about what is and isn’t within the realm of possibility. They’re a bit into the whole human evolution/extraterrestrial panspermia thing, which is something I decisively do not agree with, but there are a lot of ideas here that can be gleaned. In particular, I fin
d the Galleries particularly imaginative and compelling. Definitely take some time to explore this site. There is a wealth of information here, and the visuals are equally stunning as they are informative. Understand, this is a place for ideas to float around and circulate. Some with thrill you, others will make you cringe. All are worth taking some time to look at and understand. I think many will find this site highly enjoyable.
Once again, here is the link.
