Hi Everyone! Got a Mumbo Jumbo Daily Update for ya all. It’s a mixed bag of news this time around, thus the title.
Lately, I realize I haven’t been updating Mumbo Jumbo Daily as often as I have in the past. At times it must seem like I’ve fallen off the face of the planet. I assure you I’m still bound by gravity to this Earth’s surface, although at times that as an alternative would not be all that bad. I joke, of course.
Let’s start with the Bad and see where we go from there. This past week has been incredibly hectic and absurdly time consuming. I’ve learned that you never, *ever* take your car to Sears for repairs. I was told 4 separate times that my car would be ready in an hour. 24 hours and 273 dollars later I finally had my car back. They are unbelievable there, you know? I’m not going into detail here, but it was one of the worst mechanic experiences I’ve ever had in my lifetime and I don’t want any of my readers to be put through the same misery that ate up nearly 2 days of time for me.
How about the Ugly next? I had an old filling a while ago that I needed replaced. I got it replaced, but after maybe 2 weeks it started hurting. I went back to the dentist yesterday. He took X-rays and didn’t like what he saw, so we decided to drill out the new filling and replace it. However, when he drilled he discovered the nerve of the tooth was bleeding and that I’d need a root canal. I’m 22. I take very good care of my teeth - it was just that an old filling had trapped some bacteria underneath it and had started to decay the surrounding tooth. Let me tell you how much fun that is. So yes, I got a partial root canal today (which was actually kind of interesting, in a medical textbook kind of way), got the hole in my tooth plugged with medication and sealant, and need to got to a specialist so he can finish the job. And it’s a week before my family’s vacation. Oh joy!
How about some Good for a change? Well, I’m hard at work on a brand spanking new template that will be even more amazing than before! Seriously, it’s going to be very nice and clean and organized and hopefully stunning. I hope you guys like it when it’s finally unveiled. Other good life news includes me trying out some new business ideas in the coming weeks and hopefully publishing some articles across the web in various forms and outlets, which of course I’ll keep you informed on. If you’re dying for some fitness news, rest assured, I’ll have some stuff coming your way as well.
Did you know I write for TheHottestGadgets.com? Well I do, and you can check out one of my most recent articles here. Be sure to Digg it, too.
In the spirit of extending this silly metaphor, here is the original trailer for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, one of my favorite films.
Isn’t it funny, life is often a mixed bag of things we want and things we don’t. Typically, we try to prevent pain in our lives. We don’t like to be uncomfortable. It’s easy to get bogged down if we allow ourselves to become burdened with cares and worries. Circumstances can hurt you in many ways; for me it’s been both financial and physical lately. All I have to say is that I don’t need to worry because I believe the creator of the universe has everything under his control and authority, and that He’s given me the tools I need to survive and thrive.
I had a moment today when I literally asked God, “Why are you giving me a root canal to deal with?” My answer was, “Why wouldn’t I?” God doesn’t shield us from every pain. I’m mortal and sometimes I need a reminder of that. People are fragile and hey, I can work out and get in fantastic shape and look in the mirror and tell myself how good I look, but ultimately that’s fleeting, and it’s pride. Where does my strength come from? With the mechanic - yes it cost a lot, but guess what? God has infinite resources under his command; He’s not short on money. Can I trust that God will provide me with what I need?
I really wish sometimes that I could give a rousing story about how you can pull yourself along through life and get through it all with a bit of ingenuity and persistance. Though those traits may both be valuable assets, they aren’t reason enough to keep going through life. They aren’t a motivation. Motivations are things like pride or greed on the negative side, or love and justice on the positive side. Therefore my challenge, I suppose, is to take some time to think about what’s really been motivating you this past week, and see where God meets you. I find lately that I’m being challenged in ways I haven’t been before, so that I can see how to change what needs to be changed for the better. Maybe the same will happen for you.
Anyways, I hope you choose to stick with me as I continue to refine and build up this blog. I’ve made a decision to not post as many short videos and really try to get some more meat across in the posts. This may bring the frequency of posts down, but hopefully the quality up. I’ll let all the subscribers know when I’ve updated the site as well, so that they can come back and marvel at the beauty of this page.
But Bob, it’s already so amazing! How could you possibly improve Mumbo Jumbo Daily?
It can be done! Just wait and see!
Cheers,
-Bob
