I watched this great documentary today, and recommend that you get your hands on it. If you can’t rent it or buy it or borrow it from a friend, I’ve included the whole thing below.
It’s full of beautiful footage (and when I say beautiful, I mean absolutely unreal, they couldn’t have made more stunning CGI footage in a summer blockbuster), recently released by NASA to the public, and thought provoking interviews. One of my favorite moments in the film is when one of the astronauts says something to the effect of “Every second was significant” in regards to the rocket taking off and everything going according to plan, and how if a second passed things were operating okay. I couldn’t help but reflect and ask, “Were the seconds insignificant before?” Now obviously, I know the intention of the astronaut’s statement, but it’s just amazing the way this film puts things into perspective.
The entire film is awe-inspiring, so if you have some time, I really recommend getting your hands on a DVD version of it simply because it is so beautiful, but again, the entire film is included in this post.
More of the film after the jump
