Clay Shirky is the author of the book Here Comes Everybody, the basic premise of which is to explore the impact of the internet as a participatory medium on society. Wordy explanations aside, this is a funny and insightful 15 minute lecture he presented at a recent Web 2.0 Conference in which he explains how people are currently dealing with the surplus of time they have in modern society. It rings true and explains why at least I have all but given up on television and why things like sitcoms just don’t work the way they used to.
