This is a preview of a documentary that I need to get my hands on. The book was released early last year and the movie followed a bit later. I haven’t read the book or watched the movie, which is something I intend to do now (Plus, Naomi Klein narrates! - I’ve always found her fascinating…) . You can find out more info at http://freedomofexpression.us/.
This all got me thinking. I read Free Culture by Lawrence Lessig (who wrote the forward to this book and as the preview indicates, appears in this movie as well), about a year ago and it literally changed how I view the world around me. The book explains the idea behind property rights in the digital age, and how we need to adapt copyright to the technology of the internet, so that property can even exist. This is essentially the foundation for Creative Commons licensing.
Lessig released his book as a free download. I started reading it one day and was blown away, so I purchased a copy for 5 bucks on Amazon. I encourage you to read it (after all, it’s free and very informative and entertaining, without being presumptuous or vainly intellectual). Here is the link to the free download.
I’m actually surprised the author hasn’t released CC versions of Freedom of Expression. You would think that a copyfighter would help out the commons. Has anyone seen this film or read this book? Anyone have a video link to the documentary?
